Lucas Auroux
Lucas Auroux is a PhD candidate at the La Trobe Institute for Sustainable Agriculture and Food (LISAF), which is part of the AgriBiosciences research centre (AgriBio) in Melbourne, Australia. His research focuses on plant (epi)genomics, particularly studying genome regulation during seed germination at single-cell resolution. He uses advanced technologies in transcriptomics, multiomics, and spatial biology to explore how the genome of plant embryos "wakes up" during this crucial stage of development. His work aims to optimise the germination process in crops, an important factor in improving agricultural yields in the context of climate change and food security.
Before his PhD, Lucas's academic journey took him through various research experiences in France and Germany, where he developed a strong interest in epigenetics and molecular biology.
